Meet Karen Rushbrook – Clinical Counsellor, Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor

We’re delighted to welcome Honey Pannapats, qualified Remedial Massage Therapist and founder of Crafted Care Remedial Massage, to the Ease Wellness practitioner community in Hurlstone Park.

With more than 10 years of hands-on experience and a background in

Traditional Thai Massage, Honey brings together technical skill, warmth and a deeply compassionate approach to care.

Working from Ease Wellness in Hurlstone Park, Sydney’s Inner West, Honey offers remedial massage, therapeutic massage, oncology massage and lymphatic wellness massage, with every treatment personalised to the individual.

For Honey, massage isn’t simply about working on a tight muscle or applying more pressure. It begins with listening — understanding what is happening in a client’s body, considering their health history and creating a treatment that feels safe, comfortable and appropriate for them.

We sat down with Honey to learn more about her background, her approach to massage therapy and what clients can expect when they book a treatment with her at Ease Wellness.

Q&A with Honey

Q: Honey, can you tell us a little about yourself and your background? I’m originally from Thailand, where massage has long been part of the culture. I began with a background in Traditional Thai Massage and have now worked in massage therapy for more than 10 years.

Over time, I wanted to understand the body more deeply and provide more personalised, evidence-informed treatment. This led me to complete my Diploma of Remedial Massage and continue my education in oncology massage, lymphatic care and other therapeutic approaches.

What drew me to this work was the opportunity to help people feel genuinely cared for. To me, massage is not only about applying techniques — it is about listening, adapting and creating a safe space where each person feels comfortable and supported.

Q: What is your area of expertise, and what services do you offer at Ease Wellness?

My main area of expertise is personalised remedial and therapeutic massage. I work with muscular tension, restricted movement, general aches and discomfort, physical fatigue and stress.

At Ease Wellness, I offer:

Remedial Massage Remedial massage focuses on muscular tension, restricted movement and areas of discomfort. Each treatment begins with a conversation and may include an assessment of posture or movement. Depending on your needs, I may also incorporate myofascial release, trigger-point therapy, stretching, cupping or heat when appropriate.

Oncology Massage Oncology massage is a carefully adapted treatment using very light, gentle pressure for anyone who has ever received a cancer diagnosis. The treatment is tailored according to the individual’s health history, comfort and current wellbeing.

Therapeutic Massage A whole-body massage using flowing techniques and pressure adapted to your comfort, designed to ease everyday muscular tension and support relaxation.

Lymphatic Wellness Massage A gentle treatment using light, rhythmic techniques to support relaxation and general wellbeing.

Q: What do you love most about the work you do?

I love seeing the change in someone from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave.

They may arrive feeling tense, tired or overwhelmed, and after their treatment they often look calmer, move more comfortably and feel more relaxed.

The most rewarding part is building trust with my clients and knowing they feel heard and cared for. I want every client to feel that their treatment has been thoughtfully crafted especially for them.

Happy Client

Q: Who do you most love to work with?

I enjoy working with people who are looking for treatment that is both effective and compassionate.

This may include someone experiencing ongoing muscular tension or physical stress, as well as someone who simply needs time to slow down and receive care.

I feel especially connected to supporting people affected by cancer. A cancer diagnosis and its treatment can change the body and a person’s relationship with it. I want to provide a safe and welcoming environment where massage is carefully adapted to their comfort, medical history and current wellbeing.

Q: What can someone expect from their first remedial massage session with you?

The first session is very important because it gives me time to understand you, your health history and what you would like help with.

I’ll ask about what you have been experiencing and may assess your posture or movement to help guide the treatment. I also check in at every appointment because your health, comfort and energy levels can change from one day to another.

Before we begin, we’ll discuss the treatment approach, pressure and positioning based on how you are feeling that day.

Some people believe that stronger pressure gives better results, but I don’t believe massage needs to be deep or vigorous to be effective. Gentle, thoughtful touch can also have a meaningful effect on the body, especially when someone is feeling tired, stressed, unwell or sensitive.

For me, massage is not simply about applying pressure. It begins with listening, understanding and clear communication.

You are always welcome to ask questions, tell me how something feels or request an adjustment. My aim is for you to feel safe, heard and genuinely supported throughout your session.

Q: Why do you feel a holistic approach to health is so important?

Our physical and emotional wellbeing are closely connected.

Muscular tension can be influenced by movement, posture and workload, but also by stress, sleep, illness and what is happening in our lives.

A holistic approach means looking beyond one tight muscle or one area of discomfort and considering the whole person.

Massage can be one part of that support, providing time to slow down, reconnect with the body and create space for rest and recovery.

I also believe in working within my professional scope and encouraging clients to seek assistance from other healthcare practitioners when needed.

Q: What does being part of Ease Wellness mean to you?

Being part of Ease Wellness means joining a community that values genuine care, collaboration and whole-person wellbeing.

As a new practitioner in Hurlstone Park, I’m excited to meet people in the local area and work alongside practitioners with different areas of expertise.

It is wonderful to have a calm and welcoming space where independent practitioners can support one another while doing meaningful work. I’m very grateful to be beginning this new chapter at Ease Wellness.

Q: What inspires you most in your personal life?

I’m inspired by kindness, empathy and respect. I really admire people who treat others with genuine care, and these are values I try to bring into both my personal life and my work.

I also love learning and discovering new ways to help people. The more I learn, the better I can understand each person’s needs and support them with greater confidence and understanding.

Outside of work, I enjoy going out for coffee and spending time with people I love. These simple moments help me switch off, enjoy the present and remind me that wellbeing does not need to be complicated.

Honey’s Six Pieces of Wellness Wisdom

1. Listen to your body before it has to shout. Tightness, fatigue, irritability or changes in sleep can be signs that your body needs attention. You don’t have to wait until discomfort becomes severe before caring for yourself.

2. Keep your body moving in ways that feel good. Movement doesn’t always need to be intense. Walking, gentle stretching or simply changing position throughout the day can help reduce stiffness and support your overall wellbeing.

3. Pause and check in with yourself. Take a moment to notice your breathing, relax your jaw and let your shoulders soften. Small pauses during a busy day can make a meaningful difference.

4. Make time for what you love. Life can become busy with work and responsibilities, but doing something you genuinely enjoy can bring energy and happiness back into your day. It doesn’t need to be anything big — just something that helps you feel more like yourself.

5. Choose consistency over shortcuts. Meaningful change can take time. Progress may feel slow, but small actions practised consistently are more likely to create lasting, sustainable results than searching for a quick fix.

6. Allow yourself to receive care. Many people are comfortable caring for others but find it difficult to accept support themselves. Receiving care is not selfish — it is an important part of looking after your wellbeing.
